NWSGS Member Surname Project Pilot

NWSGS is testing a new member surname project designed to help members find others who may be researching the same surnames, places, or ancestral lines.

If you choose to participate, you may submit a GEDCOM file from your genealogy software or online family tree. NWSGS will use the file only to create a review list of surnames, locations, and approximate date ranges. Your full GEDCOM file will not be published.

Before anything is added to a surname index, you will have the opportunity to review the extracted information.

NWSGS Member Surname Project GEDCOM Submission

Thank you for helping NWSGS test our Member Surname Project. The purpose of this project is to extract surname, location, and approximate time-period information from member-submitted GEDCOM files so we can help members find possible research connections.

Important: NWSGS is not asking to publish your full family tree. Your GEDCOM file will be used only to create a review list of surnames, locations, and date ranges. You will be able to review the extracted information before anything is added to a member surname index.
